Galaxy Nexus w microsim/adapter?

Is anyone using the Galaxy Nexus w microsim/adapter? I bought the Nexus directly from Googleplay. I can't get Fido working or recognizing the micro sim/adaptor. I have tried a few times and the introductory screen keeps telling me that it cant recognize or find sim. Any ideas what I can do...
