Author J.K. Rowling celebrated her 50th birthday on July 31 (http://www.biography.com/people/jk-rowling-40998), and good wishes poured in from her 5 million Twitter followers (https://twitter.com/jk_rowling?lang=en). Including this gem:

In the series, Firenze is a centaur (http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Firenze)who lives in the Forbidden Forest on the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He teaches divinity at the school, saves Harry's life when Voldemort attacks him (http://hpcompanion.com/ps/ps15/) and fights in the Battle of Hogwarts. The centaur colony banishes him for helping humans.
In other words, he's a pretty good friend.
