In case you haven't heard, turmeric is having a major moment. The yellow-orange plant root has a number of health benefits, from easing inflammation to increasing circulation to protecting the heart and brain. And even better: You can whip up the spice into a warm, creamy treat on a freezing-cold day. What you need: One cup of milk (both dairy and non-dairy varieties work), half a teaspoon of ground turmeric (http://www.amazon.com/Simply-Organic-Certified-2-38-Ounce-Container/dp/B000WR4LMY/ref=as_at?tag=pur0e4-20&linkCode=as2&ie=UTF8&qid=1454083003&sr=8-1&keywords=ground+turmeric+root), half a tablespoon of ground ginger, a quarter teaspoon of vanilla extract and maple syrup or honey to taste.

What you do: Add all the ingredients in a small saucepan and whisk until combined. Turn the heat to medium high and whisk vigorously until it begins to foam--but never allow it to boil. When the thickness is to your liking, remove from the heat and pour into a mug.

All that's left to do is grab your favorite blanket, curl up on the couch and rewatch the last season of Parks and Rec (http://www.purewow.com/entertainment/New-to-Netflix-January-2016?utm_source=huffpo&utm_medium=syndication&utm_campaign=tumericlatte).
