A beauty company's ad about aging refreshingly takes the focus off makeup and appearance and puts the spotlight on genuine wisdom from women.

For its #AgeWisely campaign (http://www.livingproof.com/buy/timeless) promoting its "Timeless" collection of beauty products, Living Proof asked six middle-aged women about their pasts and gave them a chance to pass along life lessons they've learned over the years. The ad, which lines up with the company's dedication to "rethinking conventional wisdom," features advice regarding love, friendship and the important people in their lives.

One woman appreciated that her mother was "always pushing [her] to do more" growing up, while another said she valued her friendships, noting that "absolutely incredible opportunities have happened because of that."

Living Proof has also celebrated the women's stories with black-and-white photos on social media.



"I got married at age 21 against the advice of my family. We ran away and got married alone. It was hard, but I learned from an early age that I had to follow my own heart and do what I believed in. In an Instagram post from Feb. 29, a woman named Alexandra shared the risk she took after marrying someone without her family's support. Despite the obstacle, she had some valuable advice to offer. 

"I've been happily married for 27 years," the caption reads. "My best piece of advice? Follow your heart and you won't be let down."
