Shared accommodation
 

My friend's son is planning to join for a 3 months course in Vancouver. His classes will commence by the mid of August. Before that, he needs to get his accommodation ready. He is not interested to stay in a hostel. He is planning for a shared accommodation in Vancouver. But some of his friends told him that sharing arrangements don't always work. If there is any problem with the roommates, it will lead to serious issues. Is it so? Will such a situation arise? He is in a troubled state now. What advice should I give him?

I have heard about the tenancy agreement for flats and apartments. Is there such an agreement for shared accommodations. Do any of you had the worst experience in shared accommodation? Is there any option to choose the roommates? If I face any sort of difficulties after signing the agreement, what can I do? Please share your thoughts.
