iPhone 5S: Should I upgrade my 7.1.2 OS to 8.1.3 OS?

I remember alot of discussions was made that iOS8 will slow down on the 5S so I kept my iOS at 7.1.2 and was wondering if I should update to new update for better security patches. But in terms of this, would this slow down my phone? Any significant incompatibilities?
