Shaw to Launch 100Mbps Internet in Calgary Feburary 26th 2009

WITH 5MBPS UPLOAD

the Canadian Cable operator Shaw has quietly launched a new 100Mbps downstream 5Mbps upstream DOCSIS 3.0 tier, though it's only currently available in Saskatoon. The new tier costs $249.95 per month Canadian ($204 U.S.), but comes with a 200GB per month usage cap. The tier costs $269 if you don't bundle it with other Shaw services. According to the Shaw website, the new tier and its 200GB cap is "perfect for those who have multiple home computers and perform a variety of media-intensive activities at the same time." Currently, Calgary-based WestNet Wireless offers the fastest 2-way internet in the country, offering upload speeds as much as 20 Mbps.
