Default Renovating the newly bought home

Hi all,

My wife and I recently bought a new home which is in a good condition. But we are thinking of renovating it as it's an old house. We are not going to completely change the interiors. We are planning on something that will fit the old look of the house but at the same time brings the modern look of the house. We’ll be changing the bedroom and the bathroom first followed by the kitchen. Then we’ll be moving to the hall along with the stair rails. We were thinking of changing the railings to metal from those old wooden rails. As the chances of getting those damaged are less. We are planning of forged steel bars for the same as suggested by my father in law.

What do you people think? I am not sure how those are going to fit in our house. But I don’t want to decline his suggestion without any strong reason.

Do you guys think this is a smart move? Would they really last?

Awaiting your valuable suggestions.

Thanks in advance!
