Wireless HD Box wired connection

Is it possible to make the HD box default to a wired connection. For example, the Telus installer set up a wireless box but it does not have sufficient signal strength to work (has 1-2 bars). There is an ethernet cable already in that location wired back to the router, and when plugged in the box works perfectly. Problem is every time the box restarts or the wired connection drops out (say, restart the router) it defaults back to the non-working Wifi connection.

I've checked and there is nothing in the menus that disables wifi, or does anything relating to the network at all. Its really stupid that the box prefers a wireless connection! Can't there be a software update to provide the option.

I would prefer to always have all boxes wired anyways. As with many modern homes everything is already wired for it.
