unactivated att ipad on verizon...

Hi... I just got a ipad mini that uses att lte but i havent activated it yet...i put my verizon nano sim in and it says that this sim isnt supported...how can i get it to work...do i have to activate the ATT sim an then use my verizon nano.. also....can i put a stright talk sim in as well.......
