Buying iPhone for international travel

Trying to do my research on this. In the next year I'll be going to Colombia for 6 months, India for a month and a half, the Philippines for a couple of weeks, hopefully a few more places... Point being, since I'm buying an iPhone, I may as well get one that works as well as possible in all...
