Travel to Portugal

Greetings, I'm headed to Portugal for a few weeks and would like to have access to a cell phone and data. I don't, however want to pay through the nose. Should I just grab a pre-paid sim card there? I have the Bold 9900. Do I need to unlock it first? Thanks!
