The New York Times tried to sell the world on an unthinkable idea on Wednesday: adding peas to guacamole (http://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1015047-green-pea-guacamole). Yes, you read that right. An esteemed media publication tried to mess with a sacred, already-perfect food, so naturally the Internet responded with anger, memes and, uh, a song about it. Add green peas to your guacamole. Trust us. http://t.co/7imMY9c2ph pic.twitter.com/oeOMt2qgmh (http://t.co/oeOMt2qgmh)

This issue became so big and so controversial that President Barack Obama responded with a resounding "no" (http://start.westnet.ca/newstempch.php?article=2015/07/01/peas-guacamole-obama_n_7708552.html), and Jeb Bush even decided to weigh in (https://twitter.com/JebBush/status/616329509617463296). Some brave news outlets even made the "Peacamole" (http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/03/dining/defenders-of-peacamole-step-up.html?smid=tw-nytimes&_r=0) concoction.

"Peas add intense sweetness and a chunky texture to the dip, making it more substantial on the chip," stated the paper of record. "They also intensify the color of the green avocado — and help the guacamole stay that way. Pea guacamole keeps its bright hue in the fridge for a few days without turning brown around the edges."

We'll take our chances with the original. Plus, when does anyone have leftover guacamole in the first place?

In light of the peas/guac debate, I BELIEVE that means we are due for a pair of farm animals to escape.
