WASHINGTON -- Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), one of 15 Republicans in the race for the White House, raised $12 million since formally announcing his campaign for president in April.
The Florida Republican's campaign on Monday reported having $10.25 million cash on hand. It began the month of July with $9.72 million cash on hand.
Rubio's leadership political action committee, Reclaim America PAC, raised $1.2 million and has $539,000 cash on hand. Another outside group that can accept unlimited donations and that also backs Rubio's presidential bid, Conservative Solutions, announced last week it had raised more than $16 million. Added to the haul raised by a separate nonprofit group, outside organizations backing Rubio raised a total of $32 million (http://www.reuters.com/article/2015/07/08/us-usa-election-rubio-idUSKCN0PI2H820150708).
The amount is typical of Republican presidential candidates at this point in the cycle, with the majority of funds going to groups that are limited in how much they can coordinate with presidential campaigns. Former Florida Gov. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) raised $51 million along with his allied super PACs.
Candidates for president must report their fundraising to the FEC by Wednesday.
