Why do so many of us not trust love and intimacy? Why do we fear death so much? Why do so many willingly hook up and have sex with people that they will never see again, but find it terrifying and dangerous to love and be truly intimate with another person? I think it's all connected. We are all on this incredible journey to learn how to let go.
So many people who are afraid of heart connection and intimacy are not afraid of sex. Perhaps because they have been wounded by love in such deep ways, ways out of their control, they now see love as a dangerous -- and risky -- emotion. At the same time they learned that sex can be manipulated and controlled.
In fact you can participate in sex without even being touched physically or emotionally. You cannot turn intimacy into a technique, but sex can be a manual. How many tips do you want on how to have sex? Sex is not as dangerous to some people's hearts as this uncontrollable energy known as "love and intimacy".
But here is the kicker: if you always stay in control when you engage in sex and never allow yourself to let go completely into the energy of love and intimacy, you will never feel what it is to take the ultimate journey into your soul. This is the place where our soul and the universe combine. For me, it's the edge of enlightenment. And we withhold sex from the aging or the dying and keep them from being intimate with their beloveds and while we are full on and healthy we block ourselves from aspects of this combination of intimacy and sex and love that has the power to elevate your soul into this place that we simply call "Letting Go" or "Surrender".
We are struggling and grasping at components of this incredible equation where we can experience all of our beings vibrate into the universe. (http://www.backtothebody.org) Without this sacred combination of being willing to let go completely and be seen and held completely by Eros, you will never know this place of not knowing your name, or what it is to fly through space with Eros in complete possession of all of you. And you won't care because pleasure and wholeness is carrying you completely.
When we allow ourselves to have this sacred combination we stop fearing the unknown. The little death of orgasm and the big death of life becomes safer and more familiar.
We get to practice what it is to drop into the universe and leave our bodies and still be held in Eros. This sacred combination of our bodies, hearts, and souls is not dangerous. It is the ultimate expression of life and death and the connection between them.
