The British Parliament will now debate whether to ban Donald Trump from entering the country after a petition (https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/114003) to keep him out rapidly gained over almost 200,000 signatures Wednesday.

"The U.K. has banned entry to many individuals for hate speech," the petition's description says.
Scottish resident and longtime Trump critic Suzanne Kelly (http://aberdeenvoice.com/2015/12/campaigners-move-to-keep-trump-out-of-uk/) started the petition, which 30,000 people signed in less than an hour Wednesday morning. Kelly condemned Trump for "unrepentant hate speech (http://start.westnet.ca/newstempch.php?article=entry/trump-hate-speech-ban-uk_566631fee4b079b2818fe0eb) and unacceptable behavior" that "foments racial, religious and nationalistic intolerance which should not be welcome in the U.K."
Britain's Chancellor George Osborne recommended Wednesday engaging in "robust and democratic debate (http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/dec/09/petition-calling-for-donald-trump-to-be-banned-from-uk-signed-by-85000)" instead of banning him from entry.
Yet several British politicians are on board. Labour Party lawmaker Jack Dromey warned that the "dangerous fool (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/dangerous-donald-trump-should-banned-6975344)" should not come "within 1,000 miles of our shores." The Muslim Council of Britain (http://www.mcb.org.uk/) echoed the call and recommended that Parliament apply the same standards to Trump as they would to others who "espouse hatred (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/dangerous-donald-trump-should-banned-6975344)." Trump caused an uproar when he proclaimed Monday that the U.S. should enact a "complete shutdown (http://start.westnet.ca/newstempch.php?article=entry/donald-trump-muslim-immigration-us_5665f75de4b072e9d1c7252b)" of Muslim immigration. He also alleged that certain neighborhoods of Paris and London were so radicalized that "police are afraid for their own lives (http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/09/us/politics/donald-trump-muslims.html)."
London Metropolitan Police rebuked Trump’s claim (http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/incoming/met-police-slam-donald-trump-10572476), saying he “could not be more wrong." London Mayor Boris Johnson slammed the comments as "complete and utter nonsense (http://start.westnet.ca/newstempch.php?article=entry/london-mayor-trump-comments_56673862e4b08e945ff15e4c)."
However, Trump has an ally in Britain First, a far-right group (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/britain-first-far-right-group-claims-to-be-first-political-party-to-reach-1-million-likes-on-a6728991.html), which advocated to “let him” into the U.K.
