Ever wondered what a Lego version of BB-8 rolling in Jakku, Chris Pratt comforting a dying brontosaurus or a love scene from “Fifty Shades of Grey” would look like?
If yes, consider that esoteric desire fulfilled. If not, the above video, featuring snippets from some of 2015’s biggest movies getting the Lego animation treatment, is still pretty damn cool to watch.
The three-and-a-half minute video made by Italian film editor, animator and all-around Lego enthusiast Antonio Toscano (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXtoqaVkmiazzKGnMpwqPkQ) features some really smooth stop-animation with pretty impressive mouth-work.
It’s not his first Lego rodeo, either. Toscano has done Lego versions of the "Guardians of the Galaxy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ3dVRvw5yY)," "Ant-Man (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNlCPw98Hl0)" and "Iron Man 3 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0L4tyoExnM)" trailers.
According to an interview (https://www.facebook.com/ToscanoBricks/videos/1635153296774011/?theater) he did with the U.K.’s "Rude Tube (http://www.channel4.com/programmes/rude-tube)" about a Lego version he did of the “Fifty Shades of Grey (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7AvZPTT4kU)” trailer, Toscano can be pretty creative when figuring out how to make some of the props his Lego characters use in his videos. For instance, because Lego doesn’t sell tiny versions of bondage toys, when making his "Fifty Shades" parody, Toscano got his imagination on by using a red Lego snake to make ropes, took the whip from an Indiana Jones set and used the back of a Princess Leia slave figure from a "Star Wars" set for a naked version of Anastasia Steele.
Let’s just hope that Toscano catches on that there’s a way to custom-make anyone as a Lego (http://start.westnet.ca/newstempch.php?article=entry/custom-lego-heads_us_568d41a0e4b0c8beacf524a4) real soon so he can save some time and make even more of these awesome videos.
Can you name all the movies Toscano paid homage to in the video? We had a hard time with it.
