Despite these ties, the two are Tea Party favorites and the current Republican frontrunners.
The Tea Party's rise to prominence, you'll remember, was fueled by the rage over the bank bailouts in the 2008 financial crisis.
At the South Carolina Tea Party Coalition Convention last weekend, I asked Rep. Jeff Duncan whether Trump and Cruz will have a hard time holding Wall Street accountable given their close ties to Wall Street.
