Beyonce's Internet-breaking video for her new single "Formation" showed just how invested the star is in social justice, with its powerful #BlackLivesMatter imagery (http://start.westnet.ca/newstempch.php?article=entry/beyonce-formation-video_us_56b67a09e4b08069c7a789e6?utm_hp_ref=black-voices). Her upcoming world tour (http://start.westnet.ca/newstempch.php?article=entry/beyonce-formation-world-tour_us_56b7f1d0e4b01d80b246cb7d?ir=Entertainment& section=us_entertainment&utm_hp_ref=entertainment) will also have a social conscience: she's using it as an opportunity to fundraise for the water crisis in Flint, Michigan.
She'll do so through her charitable initiative #BeyGood, (http://www.beyonce.com/beygood/) according to a press release. Her fans at all 40 tour stops will be able to donate to Flint residents, whose water supply has been poisoned by lead (http://start.westnet.ca/newstempch.php?article=entry/how-flint-water-got-poisonous_us_569907f5e4b0b4eb759e1426).
The superstar is partnering with two charities working in Flint: United Way of Genesee County (http://www.unitedwaygenesee.org/) -- which has been donating huge amounts of clean water and filters to Flint residents -- and the Community Foundation of Greater Flint (https://www.cfgf.org/cfgf/) -- a group with which Beyonce plans to create a fund to address the education and health needs of children affected by the water crisis.
The star has a long history of charitable giving, much of it surprisingly low-key.
