Every year, the American Institute of Architects (http://www.aia.org/) (AIA) features the best of the best in housing design -- and this year's picks don't disappoint.
The organization announced the results of the 2016 Housing Awards on Thursday, featuring 10 winners across three categories: single family, multifamily, and specialized units.
The purpose of the awards -- which are open to U.S. properties (http://www.aia.org/practicing/awards/AIAS075322) designed by architects licensed in the U.S. -- is to highlight "the importance of good housing as a necessity of life, a sanctuary for the human spirit, and a valuable national resource."
