Latinos make up 17% of the U.S. population (http://www.census.gov/quickfacts/table/PST045215/00). They account for 32% of frequent moviegoers (http://mic.com/articles/130677/you-may-not-have-noticed-but-there-were-almost-no-latino-films-in-2015#.iEaAJpjPv). But as Flavorwir (http://flavorwire.com/497515/why-is-hollywood-only-making-one-film-about-latinos-in-2015)e (http://flavorwire.com/497515/why-is-hollywood-only-making-one-film-about-latinos-in-2015) put it bluntly last year, Hollywood made the same number of films about Latinos as they did about monkeys in 2015.
Hollywood's diversity problem is nothing new. (See #OscarsSoWhite: The Sequel (http://mic.com/articles/132577/for-the-second-year-in-a-row-the-oscars-failed-to-nominate-a-single-actor-of-color#.9CeoP4bvH).) According to Jessica Gonzalez, executive vice president of the National Hispanic Media Coalition, representation of Latinos in particular is lagging.
