iPhone 5 - Locked?

I was hoping someone here could help me with my little dilemma. I won an iPhone 5 recently (I know - great!), and I was planning on replacing my old Nokia (non smart phone) with it. My contract with Rogers ends in January, so not looking into getting into a contract or being stuck with Rogers...
