I'm not a network engineer, but I do know how to use FTP. I'm trying to configure a ftp program (Filezilla) to connect to ftp servers via passive transfer. Here are the messages I'm getting from the configuration utility.

Connecting to probe.filezilla-project.org
Connection established, waiting for welcome message.
Response: 220 FZ router and firewall tester ready
USER FileZilla
Response: 331 Give any password.
PASS 3.25.1
Response: 230 logged on.
Checking for correct external IP address
Retrieving external IP address from http://ip.filezilla-project.org/ip.php
Checking for correct external IP address
IP 23.16.5.224 cd-bg-f-cce
Response: 200 OK
Failed to create listen socket, aborting.
Connection closed

Error message: "connection with server got closed prematurely".
It seems like the router is not allowing my computer to establish a passive connection with a FTP server. My router was recently upgraded by Telus and I had no part in the set up, so I'm not sure the first thing to do to fix this. Is there a telus setup guide for the various routers that covers this? I've tried with several devices, with a wired connection to the router. I'm a web developer and can't connect with one of my clients' sites, which needs SFTP and a passive connection. This is a big problem for me.
