Disable visual voicemail

I have the iPhone 4S and was wondering how I would be able to turn off the visual voicemail feature on it. I get a notification saying I has a voicemail but when I go to check it the visual voicemail thing pops up and I can't view it. I have to turn off my data to go to the normal voicemail. I...
