The current case is my Internet optik 50 plan. I am supposed to get 50mbs down and 10mbs up, now if you do a speedtest.net or a fast.com you will find varying numbers, but both state roughly 50 down, give or take a few mbs, and 10 up, give or take again. The issue is actual download speed.

Scenario:
With a test computer, hardwired into their router, cat 6 cable, with a gigabit port on the laptop, latest drivers for everything, solid state drive with OS running on a separate HDD drive. The laptop is the only online device, every other device has been turned off and removed from the network, I have even unplugged my Telus HDPVR box to prevent any recording of television.

Result:
I can only download from any mix or single online source at a total of 7mbs down, on average 5mbs. I used to think it was my location or the building as I used to live in an older house, however upon moving to a brand new building in a new residential area I still get the same speeds. I also found I could run multiple devices at up to 7mbs but never more than that on any singular device. In checking with friends and family with different providers around the country and other countries, I found out they actually receive their advertised speeds. Why am I not receiving the speeds promised? The only thing in common is no one else is using Telus.

Anyone have any answers as to why my service would be throttled on what appears to be a per device basis?
