iHeart Radio, Ootunes, TuneIn, etc. fragile on iPhone 5?

I'm trying to figure out if it's my phone which is defective or simply a problem with iPhone 5. Placed side by side on a table next to a 4S, the 4S will stream happily for hours and is very robust. The 5 used to constantly drop the connection or rebuffer. I've done all I could to address this...
