My recommendation: spend a weekend in Point McKay before buying. Walk around, check out the local shops, talk to people. You'll get a feel for whether it's your vibe pretty quickly.

Good luck!

University District is becoming a really cool neighborhood. The new shops and restaurants there give it a trendy village feel. Worth checking out.

If walkability is your priority, you really can't beat the inner city neighborhoods like Kensington, Beltline, or Mission. Everything you need is within walking distance.

Good luck!

CalgaryFinder has been my go-to for finding local services. Found our current plumber through there and he's been excellent.

Oh wow, Just want to add - if you're new to Calgary, download the Calgary Transit app and explore the C-Train system. It's not perfect but it gets you around the core pretty well.

If you're looking for value, the NE communities like Taradale and Martindale are actually really nice and way more affordable. Don't let the stereotypes fool you.

For families with young kids, University Heights is hard to beat. Great playgrounds, safe streets, and the school is within walking distance for most residents.

I'd recommend driving through Ogden at different times of day before you commit. Traffic patterns and noise levels can vary a lot between morning and evening.

Also check out CalgaryFinder.com for local listings - it's pretty handy for finding stuff and services in specific neighborhoods.
