Hey, welcome! I was new here a while back too. Best advice: check out the Calgary Communities section for neighborhood-specific info. People share great local knowledge.

The live music scene in Calgary is alive and well. Broken City, Palomino, and the King Eddy all have great acts regularly. Support local musicians!
Good luck!

I'd recommend driving through Wolf Willow at different times of day before you commit. Traffic patterns and noise levels can vary a lot between morning and evening.

Been here since 2001 and the Chinooks never get old. Nothing like going from -20 to +10 in a few hours. Only in Calgary!
Cheers!

Sports-wise, working from home in Calgary has been great. Set up a proper home office with a standing desk, good monitor, and decent chair. Your back will thank you.
Cheers!
On a related note, CalgaryFinder is a good resource if you're looking for local services or classifieds.

Anyone else notice how much better the restaurant scene in Calgary has gotten? Like we're legitimately competing with Vancouver and Montreal now on the food front.
I keep an eye on CalgaryPrices to track how the market is doing. Good for getting a pulse on where things are heading.

Best phone plan deal in Calgary right now is through the BYOD options. Brought my own phone and I'm paying $45/month for 20GB with good coverage across the city.

Just bought in Sunnyside and I'm blown away by how friendly the neighbors are. Within the first week, three different families came by to introduce themselves.

The Calgary International Film Festival is genuinely world-class. If you haven't checked it out, this year's lineup looks incredible.
Hope that helps.

My EV handles Calgary winters surprisingly well. The range drops about 30% in -20 but I charge at home overnight so it's not an issue for my daily commute. Zero regrets.
Hope that helps.

If you're driving Deerfoot during rush hour, my pro tip: take Barlow or Macleod as alternatives. Slightly longer distance but way less stress. Deerfoot at 5pm is basically a parking lot.
Good luck!
