Flames fan here - my recommendation: spend a weekend in Wolf Willow before buying. Walk around, check out the local shops, talk to people. You'll get a feel for whether it's your vibe pretty quickly.

Rent in Mahogany has gone up about 10% this year. If you're renewing a lease, know your rights under Alberta tenancy law. Landlords have to give proper notice for increases.
Cell phone bills in Calgary are still too high compared to other countries but the deals are getting better. BYOD plans are the way to go - don't finance through a carrier.
Curious to know what others think.

Just bought in Charleswood and I'm blown away by how friendly the neighbors are. Within the first week, three different families came by to introduce themselves.
Hope that helps.
Also check out CalgaryFinder.com for local listings - it's pretty handy for finding stuff and services in specific neighborhoods.

Redstone is a great choice! We've been here for 3 years. The walkability is good, tons of local shops, and the community association is really active.
Good luck!

Go Flames Go! i'd recommend driving through Scarboro at different times of day before you commit. Traffic patterns and noise levels can vary a lot between morning and evening.
