Anyone else notice how much better the restaurant scene in Calgary has gotten? Like we're legitimately competing with Vancouver and Montreal now on the food front.

Cheers!

The gaming community in Calgary is bigger than you'd think. There are regular LAN events and gaming cafes. Also some great shops for PC building components.

If walkability is your priority, you really can't beat the inner city neighborhoods like Kensington, Beltline, or Mission. Everything you need is within walking distance.

Been in Huntington Hills for over a decade. It's changed a lot but still has that small community feel which I love. Saturday mornings at the farmer's market are the best.

Hope that helps.

Just bought in Huntington Hills and I'm blown away by how friendly the neighbors are. Within the first week, three different families came by to introduce themselves.

Good luck!

I love that Calgary's nightlife isn't just 17th Ave anymore. Inglewood, Kensington, and even the East Village all have great options now.

Thanks everyone! We used CalgaryPrices to track the market before buying. Really helpful for getting a sense of where things are trending in different neighborhoods. Thank you all!!

We rent in Martindale and our landlord just raised the rent 15%. Seriously considering buying at this point. The math is starting to make more sense to own.

Property taxes in Calgary are definitely going up but honestly they're still way better than what my friends pay in Toronto or Vancouver. And no land transfer tax in Alberta which saved us thousands.

The sense of community in Lake Bonavista is something special. We have block parties, neighborhood clean-ups, and everyone knows each other by name. You don't get that everywhere.

Thanks for bringing this up.

Oh wow, This thread is gold. Saving it for when my friends from back east ask me about Calgary. Pretty much covers everything. Thank you all!!

If you're looking for local services, CalgaryFinder is a good resource. Way more Calgary-specific than Kijiji.

The Calgary International Film Festival is genuinely world-class. If you haven't checked it out, this year's lineup looks incredible.

We're in Midnapore and honestly the only downside is the commute to downtown. But if you work from home or work in the south, it's absolutely perfect.

Good luck!

We sold our place in Belmont last month and it went in 4 days. The market in that area is really hot right now, especially for family homes.

I looked at both Garrison Woods and Mission before settling on Shaganappi. The school district was the deciding factor for us. No regrets at all.

Cheers!
