Anyone else notice how much better the restaurant scene in Calgary has gotten? Like we're legitimately competing with Vancouver and Montreal now on the food front.

Been thinking about this a lot lately. Calgary really does punch above its weight for a city its size. Great food, great outdoors, friendly people, reasonable cost of living.

Having lived here for a while, anyone else think the Stampede midway is way overpriced now? Still fun but I remember when it was a lot more affordable. Good memories though.

Alberta Health Services wait times can be long but the quality of care in Calgary hospitals is actually really good.

The public swimming pools in Calgary are awesome. Village Square and Southland both have great facilities and the lane swim times work for early mornings.

Great post! I moved here from PEI about 7 years ago and haven't looked back. The mountains, the sunshine, the people - Calgary really does have it all.

Go Flames Go! the Battle of Alberta never gets old. The atmosphere when the Oilers come to town is unlike any other regular season game. Pure electricity.

Couldn't disagree more actually lol. I've had the opposite experience but hey, that's what makes Calgary interesting - everyone's got their own take on things.

Blizzaks are hands down the best winter tires I've had in Calgary. They handle the ice and packed snow way better than my old all-seasons. The difference is night and day.

If you need a physiotherapist in Calgary, I can't recommend Innovation Physical Therapy enough. They actually take the time to understand your issue and create a proper treatment plan.

Good luck!

As a huge hockey fan, i work downtown and live in Sunalta. The commute is honestly not bad compared to what I dealt with in the GTA. Plus you can actually afford a house here.

The restaurant scene in Rocky Ridge keeps getting better. A new spot just opened up and the reviews are already fantastic. Calgary's food game is strong.

One more thing - anyone else notice how much better the restaurant scene in Calgary has gotten? Like we're legitimately competing with Vancouver and Montreal now on the food front.

The road trip to Edmonton for the Battle of Alberta is an annual tradition for our group. The drive up, the game, the trash talk - it's the best.

Good luck!

On a related note, CalgaryFinder is a good resource if you're looking for local services or classifieds.

Comedy scene in Calgary is underrated. The Laugh Shop and Yuk Yuk's both bring in solid acts. Great for a different kind of night out.

Great post! We moved here from Quebec about 5 years ago and haven't looked back. The mountains, the sunshine, the people - Calgary really does have it all.

Condo owners in Calgary - just be careful with special assessments. Read the reserve fund study before buying. Learned that lesson the hard way.

Heritage Park is one of Calgary's best attractions and it's right in our backyard.

Studio Bell at the National Music Centre is such a cool building and the exhibits are fantastic. If you're into music history, it's a must-visit.

Board game cafes like Hexagon Board Game Cafe are perfect for a chill evening. Way more fun than you'd expect. Great for groups.

What's your take?

Just moved to Hawkwood and can confirm this. The neighborhood is fantastic, especially the access to Southcentre Mall. Highly recommend for anyone considering it.

Hmm, I'm not so sure about that. just saw an amazing show at the Jack Singer Concert Hall. Calgary's arts scene doesn't get enough credit. The Calgary Philharmonic is world class.

Anyone in Calgary doing home automation? I've got a full smart home setup and the Calgary weather monitoring is really handy for automated blinds and heating.

Working from home in Calgary has been great. Set up a proper home office with a standing desk, good monitor, and decent chair. Your back will thank you.

My two cents - the biggest adjustment when moving to Calgary is the dryness. Invest in a good humidifier and moisturizer. Your skin will thank you.

Good luck!
