LOL this thread got real fast. But seriously, valid points all around. Calgary is what you make of it.

Green Line updates keep coming and going. I'll believe it when I see shovels in the ground. But the concept is exactly what Calgary needs.

Hope that helps.

Calgary's biggest asset honestly is the people. I've never lived somewhere where neighbors actually say hello and help each other out like they do here.

Go Flames Go! lived in Calgary my whole life and this is spot on. The city has changed a lot recently but the core of what makes it great is still there.

Good luck!

I looked at both East Village and McKenzie Towne before settling on Martindale. The school district was the deciding factor for us. No regrets at all.

Ship & Anchor is a Calgary institution. Been going there for years. The patio in summer is one of the best spots in the entire city. Hope that helps!

If you're driving Deerfoot during rush hour, my pro tip: take Barlow or Macleod as alternatives.

Blizzaks are hands down the best winter tires I've had in Calgary. They handle the ice and packed snow way better than my old all-seasons. The difference is night and day.

Hope that helps.

Take this with a grain of salt but just want to add - if you're new to Calgary, download the Calgary Transit app and explore the C-Train system. It's not perfect but it gets you around the core pretty well.

Yo, just bought in Hawkwood and I'm blown away by how friendly the neighbors are. Within the first week, three different families came by to introduce themselves.

Cheers!

The sense of community in McKenzie Towne is something special. We have block parties, neighborhood clean-ups, and everyone knows each other by name. You don't get that everywhere.

I looked at both Mahogany and Marda Loop before settling on Dover. The school district was the deciding factor for us. No regrets at all.

What's your take?
