Ha, my partner and I were just talking about this yesterday. We're in Erlton and yeah, totally relate.

Good luck!

The Calgary Zoo in winter is actually beautiful. Less crowded, the animals are more active in the cold, and the Zoolights are magical. tbh

Hope that helps.

So basically, my family moved to Shaganappi last year and we couldn't be happier. The kids' school is great, the parks are beautiful, and the community events are fantastic.

Ship & Anchor is a Calgary institution.

For cocktails, Proof in the Fairmont Palliser is on another level. Pricey but the drinks and atmosphere are worth it for a special occasion.

Lived in Calgary my whole life and this is spot on. The city has changed a lot recently but the core of what makes it great is still there.

Good luck!

If you're into craft beer, Last Best Brewing and Cold Garden are must-visits. The Calgary brewery scene is honestly one of the best in Canada and it's still growing.

Cheers!

For a chill night out, Kensington has great options. Grab dinner at one of the restaurants and then hit up a pub for drinks. Way more relaxed than the 17th Ave chaos.

If you're looking for things to do when it's freezing outside, the escape rooms in Calgary are a solid option. Did one in Springbank Hill last week and had a blast.

Love seeing all the new independent businesses popping up in Inglewood and Kensington. Support local! These are the places that give Calgary its character.

For families with young kids, Erlton is hard to beat. Great playgrounds, safe streets, and the school is within walking distance for most residents. Hope that helps!

Hope that helps.

This is so helpful! Stampede is just around the corner and I'm already excited. Say what you will about it, but there's nothing quite like Calgary in July. The whole city transforms. Thank you all!!

Good luck!

Shout out to everyone in this thread. This is what a real community forum should be - people actually helping each other out. :)

Hope that helps.

Calgary's tech scene is actually growing fast. A lot of companies moving here from Toronto and Vancouver because of the lower cost of living and talent pool.

One more thing - my two cents - the biggest adjustment when moving to Calgary is the dryness. Invest in a good humidifier and moisturizer. Your skin will thank you.

Hope that helps.

My recommendation: spend a weekend in Beddington before buying. Walk around, check out the local shops, talk to people. You'll get a feel for whether it's your vibe pretty quickly.

Anyone else have a similar experience?
