Grocery bills have been insane lately. We've switched to a combination of Costco, No Frills, and the Asian supermarkets for better prices. Still spending more than a year ago though.

Rent in Hamptons has gone up about 10% this year. If you're renewing a lease, know your rights under Alberta tenancy law. Landlords have to give proper notice for increases.
Good luck!

Hot take: the Flames prospect pipeline is actually looking really strong right now. Give it 2-3 years and this team is going to be a serious contender. #Flames
Cheers!
Random but if anyone needs to check a used car, FullVIN.com saved my buddy from a bad purchase last month.

The live music scene in Calgary is alive and well. Broken City, Palomino, and the King Eddy all have great acts regularly. Support local musicians!

Home renovation quotes in Calgary are all over the place. Got three quotes for a bathroom reno and they ranged from $8K to $25K. Always get multiple quotes.
Good luck!

Solar panels on our roof in Chaparral have been producing great.
Anyone in Calgary doing home automation? I've got a full smart home setup and the Calgary weather monitoring is really handy for automated blinds and heating.

If you're in tech and considering Calgary - the talent competition isn't as fierce as Toronto but the salaries are competitive and your money goes WAY further here.
Hope that helps.

Gas prices at Costco on Deerfoot are usually the cheapest in the city. Worth the drive and the lineup if you're filling up a big tank.

On a related note with the Flames, home renovation quotes in Calgary are all over the place. Got three quotes for a bathroom reno and they ranged from $8K to $25K. Always get multiple quotes. Can't wait for the next game.

So excited about this - Cell phone bills in Calgary are still too high compared to other countries but the deals are getting better. BYOD plans are the way to go - don't finance through a carrier.

For groceries, the best value in Calgary is honestly the ethnic supermarkets. T&T, Superstore International aisle, and the shops on International Avenue have way better prices on produce and spices.
Hope that helps.

My two cents - the biggest adjustment when moving to Calgary is the dryness.
The two of us love how active this community is. Real people sharing real experiences. This is why I keep coming back to this forum.
Cheers!
