If walkability is your priority, you really can't beat the inner city neighborhoods like Kensington, Beltline, or Mission. Everything you need is within walking distance.
I'd recommend driving through McKenzie Towne at different times of day before you commit. Traffic patterns and noise levels can vary a lot between morning and evening.
CalgaryFinder has been my go-to for finding local services. Found our current plumber through there and he's been excellent.
