Quick data point: couldn't disagree more actually lol. I've had the opposite experience but hey, that's what makes Calgary interesting - everyone's got their own take on things.

My recommendation: spend a weekend in Britannia before buying. Walk around, check out the local shops, talk to people. You'll get a feel for whether it's your vibe pretty quickly.

If walkability is your priority, you really can't beat the inner city neighborhoods like Kensington, Beltline, or Mission. Everything you need is within walking distance.

Would love to hear other perspectives on this.

The Ring Road (Stoney Trail) completion was a game changer for getting around Calgary. Remember when you had to go through Deerfoot for everything?

Hope that helps.

CalgaryFinder has been my go-to for finding local services. Found our current plumber through there and he's been excellent.

We rent in Mahogany and our landlord just raised the rent 15%. Seriously considering buying at this point. The math is starting to make more sense to own.

I think people don't give Calgary enough credit. Coming from Toronto, the quality of life here is way better for the money. Plus no PST!

Cheers!

For a rainy day activity, TELUS Spark is amazing - not just for kids. The adult-only nights they do are actually really fun and educational. no cap

Good luck!
