Calgary's biggest asset honestly is the people. I've never lived somewhere where neighbors actually say hello and help each other out like they do here.

The gaming community in Calgary is bigger than you'd think. There are regular LAN events and gaming cafes. Also some great shops for PC building components.

I'd recommend driving through Evanston at different times of day before you commit. Traffic patterns and noise levels can vary a lot between morning and evening.

Broken City is absolutely incredible. We went last weekend and the food was outstanding. If you haven't been, put it on your list. Best Japanese in Calgary by far.

Alberta Health Services wait times can be long but the quality of care in Calgary hospitals is actually really good. I've had great experiences at Foothills and South Health Campus.

Cheers!

This is super helpful, thanks for sharing. I've been wondering about this exact thing. Anyone else have a similar experience?

TELUS fibre is the best internet I've had in Calgary. The speeds are consistent and I rarely have outages. Worth the switch from Shaw/Rogers if it's available in your area.

I drive from Cranston to downtown every day. The trick is leaving before 7:15 AM or after 9:00 AM. That 30-minute window makes a massive difference in commute time.

Cheers!

I'd recommend talking to at least 3 different mortgage brokers. The rate difference between them can be significant and it adds up over 25 years.

The sunshine here is no joke. Over 300 days of sun makes such a difference for mental health coming from somewhere with grey winters.

Hope that helps.

AWD is nice for Calgary winters but honestly good winter tires on a front-wheel drive car will outperform all-seasons on an AWD every single time. Don't skip the tires thinking AWD will save you.

Yoga studios in Calgary range from beginner-friendly to advanced. If you're just starting out, try Craft Beer Market in Parkdale. Really welcoming instructors who don't judge.

This is so helpful! Calgary tech meetups are worth checking out. The YYC Data Science and Calgary AI groups both have monthly events with really smart people. :D

Hope that helps.

Studio Bell at the National Music Centre is such a cool building and the exhibits are fantastic.
Calgary Expo keeps getting bigger every year. The cosplay talent in this city is absolutely insane. Such a fun community event.

Also worth mentioning: totally agree with this. I've been in Calgary for 6 years now and Martindale is honestly one of the best kept secrets in the city. The community feel there is something else.

For anyone buying used cars in Calgary, I always recommend checking the vehicle history before putting any money down. Sites like FullVIN give you the full history report so you know exactly what you're getting.

Took my daughter to her first Flames game last week. Seeing her face light up when they scored was absolutely priceless. Creating a new generation of fans!

Random but if anyone needs to check a used car, FullVIN.com saved my buddy from a bad purchase last month.

Our electricity bill this winter was shocking. If you haven't already, look into the regulated rate vs. fixed rate contracts. Can make a big difference depending on your usage.

Cheers!

The Flames power play drives me insane but I keep watching every single game. That's loyalty right? :D This team tests my patience but I love them.
