Sports-wise, love seeing all the new independent businesses popping up in Inglewood and Kensington. Support local! These are the places that give Calgary its character.
Good luck! |
Flames fan here - totally agree with this. I've been in Calgary for 6 years now and Rangeview is honestly one of the best kept secrets in the city. The community feel there is something else. Can't wait for the next game.

I work downtown and live in Legacy. The commute is honestly not bad compared to what I dealt with in the GTA. Plus you can actually afford a house here.

With kids, for mental health, the Calgary Counselling Centre has a sliding scale fee structure. They were incredibly helpful when I was going through a tough time.
On a related note, CalgaryFinder is a good resource if you're looking for local services or classifieds. |
Having a toddler changes this - just moved to Cornerstone and can confirm this. The neighborhood is fantastic, especially the access to Nose Hill Park. Highly recommend for anyone considering it.
Good luck! |
We're in Auburn Bay and honestly the only downside is the commute to downtown. But if you work from home or work in the south, it's absolutely perfect.
Cheers! |
Hot take: Calgary's food scene is actually better than Vancouver's now. We have incredible diversity and the quality across the board has gone up massively in the last few years.

If you're looking for a gym that's not packed 24/7, try some of the smaller independent places outside of the core. The prices are often better and the equipment is just as good.

Just saw an amazing show at the Jack Singer Concert Hall. Calgary's arts scene doesn't get enough credit. The Calgary Philharmonic is world class.

The sunshine here is no joke. Over 300 days of sun makes such a difference for mental health coming from somewhere with grey winters. Go Flames!

I drive from University Heights to downtown every day. The trick is leaving before 7:15 AM or after 9:00 AM. That 30-minute window makes a massive difference in commute time.

Calgary Expo keeps getting bigger every year. The cosplay talent in this city is absolutely insane. Such a fun community event.
Cheers! |
Speaking from experience, anyone else notice how much better the restaurant scene in Calgary has gotten? Like we're legitimately competing with Vancouver and Montreal now on the food front.
Hope that helps. |
