If you're driving Deerfoot during rush hour, my pro tip: take Barlow or Macleod as alternatives. Slightly longer distance but way less stress. Deerfoot at 5pm is basically a parking lot.

I drive from Altadore to downtown every day. The trick is leaving before 7:15 AM or after 9:00 AM. That 30-minute window makes a massive difference in commute time.

The road trip to Edmonton for the Battle of Alberta is an annual tradition for our group. The drive up, the game, the trash talk - it's the best.

Just bought in Elbow Park and I'm blown away by how friendly the neighbors are. Within the first week, three different families came by to introduce themselves.

Trolley 5 on 17th Ave is always a good time. Great food, solid beer selection, and the atmosphere is perfect for groups. Been going there regularly for years. GFG!

The sense of community in St Andrews Heights is something special. We have block parties, neighborhood clean-ups, and everyone knows each other by name. You don't get that everywhere.

This thread is gold. Saving it for when my friends from back east ask me about Calgary. Pretty much covers everything. lol
Hope that helps. |

Hope that helps. Check CalgaryPrices if you want to see how much values have changed in that area. Interesting data they have there. |
Anyone else think the Stampede midway is way overpriced now? Still fun but I remember when it was a lot more affordable. Good memories though.

Respectfully disagree here. daycare costs in Calgary are coming down with the federal $10/day program but the waitlists are ridiculous. Get on the list as soon as possible - like before the kid is born.

Been in Brentwood for over a decade. It's changed a lot but still has that small community feel which I love. Saturday mornings at the farmer's market are the best.

Best pizza in Calgary and I will die on this hill: Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus. Their wood-fired oven produces absolute perfection. Fight me if you disagree. :D Hope that helps!
Good luck! |
AWD is nice for Calgary winters but honestly good winter tires on a front-wheel drive car will outperform all-seasons on an AWD every single time. Don't skip the tires thinking AWD will save you.

For families with young kids, Sage Hill is hard to beat. Great playgrounds, safe streets, and the school is within walking distance for most residents.
