Former Stone Temple Pilots Singer Scott Weiland Dead At 48
 

Former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland died on Thursday. Cause of death was not released. He was 48. 

Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro shared news of the musician's death on Twitter Friday morning:

Just learned our friend Scott Weiland has died. So gutted, I am thinking of his family tonight.

Weiland's death was confirmed in a statement on his Facebook page shortly after.

According to TMZ, the musician was found dead on his tour bus ahead of the show his most recent band, Scott Weiland & the Wildabouts, was scheduled to perform at the Medina Entertainment Center in Hamel, Minnesota.

Weiland, who performed in a number of other bands over the years, including Velvet Revolver, struggled with substance abuse issues for years. In March, Wildabouts guitarist Jeremy Brown died at age 34 as a result of multiple drug intoxication, according to the coroner's report.
