Chris Rock Failed Asian-Americans With This Controversial Joke

Chris Rock might've nailed his Oscars opening monologue, but he left some viewers angry after doing a skit that played up Asian and Jewish stereotypes.

"The result of tonight's Academy Awards have been tabulated by the accounting firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers," Rock said. "They sent us their most dedicated, accurate and hard-working representatives."

Rock then brought three kids on stage, giving them stereotypical Asian and Jewish names while pretending that they were the Oscars accountants.

.@ChrisRock dares you to be offended by this joke. And tweet about it.https://t.co/1IX4Uxtf0J

"If anybody's upset about that joke, just tweet about it on your phone that was also made by these kids, OK?" Rock said.

People were mad about the skit and took to Twitter to voice their opinions:

Says a lot that after all the diversity tweets tonight, Chris Rock's Asian jokes come and go with virtually no notice on here. Depressing.

Half-assed Asian joke, #Oscars, and then preach about diversity? #LoseMe

Think my brain shut down for a few minutes. Did that appalling joke about Asian kids actually happen? #Oscars

Still so discouraged by Chris Rock's Asian jokes tonight. Why step on our necks when we're already so invisible? And to little kids at that.

Asian actors are always pushed aside & rarely get any major awards or press. I found Chris Rock's jokes to be disrespectful at the #Oscars

Sacha Baron Cohen also raised eyebrows when he presented an award as his alter ego Ali G and made comments about "very hardworking, little yellow people with tiny dongs."
