Jake Gyllenhaal's 'Lord Of The Rings' Audition Is The One Fail To Rule Them All
 

After this, Jake Gyllenhaal probably wished he had the magic ring just so he could disappear.

While stopping by "The Tonight Show" on Monday for his new movie "Demolition," Gyllenhaal told Jimmy Fallon about some of his worst auditions, including one in particular for "The Lord of the Rings."

It's surprising that plenty of big names didn't end up with roles in the "LOTR" films. Everyone from David Bowie to Nic Cage was said to be considered. But for Gyllenhaal, it actually makes sense. The actor recalled how he didn't understand what was going on while auditioning for Frodo and didn't even add an accent, which was apparently a requirement.

Peter Jackson apparently said, "You are the worst actor that I have ever seen," and now we have a fail more powerful than all the rings of power combined.
