Cascading routers

Hi, I have a Telus Actiontec T3200M modem. I’m trying to cascade a second router to separate a network segment (x.x.2.x) for the kids’ devices. But when I attach router 2 with its WAN port connected to one of the T3200M LAN ports, I can’t get an internet connection to router 2’s LAN. The only way to get a connection is to use NAT on router 2, which is then a gateway and not a router (and then there are 2 NATs which doesn’t work for more than one device...)

How can I make a cascading router work?
