Raising the basic personal amount — not the minimum wage — is the way to help low-income workers
 

Lifting the basic personal amount would put more money in the hands of the working poor, help stimulate the economy and would also not have the effects on labour costs or small business profit margins that we see with steep minimum wage increases.
