Central Alberta farmers hit by hail storm ask for fruit and vegetable crop insurance
 

Unlike grain crops, market crops — those growing fruits and vegetables — are ineligible for straight hail insurance under the Agriculture Financial Services Corporation in Alberta. That’s why Staples and other farmers are calling on AFSC and provincial and federal governments to extend crop insurance coverage, and create a risk mitigation program for farmers.
