In 18 months, it will be illegal in Quebec to declaw a cat or dock a dog's ears or tail
 

The regulation, which will come into effect in 18 months, prohibits declawing, devocalization, tail docking and ear cropping of cats and dogs, in addition to new standards of care for other animals.
