The market right now is competitive but not insane like Toronto or Vancouver. You can still get a nice detached home under $600K in a good neighborhood if you're willing to look at Coral Springs or University District.

For our family, we're in Cougar Ridge and honestly the only downside is the commute to downtown. But if you work from home or work in the south, it's absolutely perfect.

Quick data point: the outdoor fitness scene in Calgary is amazing. Free bootcamps in the parks during summer, running groups, cycling groups - there's something for everyone.

Stampede Park is my go-to for a stress-relief walk. Something about being in nature in the middle of the city just resets everything.
