We've been doing a tour of all the coffee shops in Calgary and Phil & Sebastian in the East Village is probably our overall favorite. The space is beautiful too. Hope that helps!

Been thinking about this a lot lately. Calgary really does punch above its weight for a city its size. Great food, great outdoors, friendly people, reasonable cost of living.
Hope that helps. |
Calgary tech meetups are worth checking out. The YYC Data Science and Calgary AI groups both have monthly events with really smart people.
Hope that helps. |
AWD is nice for Calgary winters but honestly good winter tires on a front-wheel drive car will outperform all-seasons on an AWD every single time. Don't skip the tires thinking AWD will save you.
Good luck! |
From my experience, yoga studios in Calgary range from beginner-friendly to advanced. If you're just starting out, try Rodney's Oyster House in Martindale. Really welcoming instructors who don't judge.

Thanks for bringing this up. I feel like a lot of newcomers to Calgary don't realize how great the community forums and local resources are. Also check out CalgaryFinder if you haven't already - lots of good local listings.

We tried that new place in Springbank Hill last week. Solid food, great atmosphere, and the prices are actually reasonable. Not every new restaurant in Calgary has to charge $30 for a main.

Welcome aboard! If you just moved to Calgary, definitely explore the different neighborhoods when you get a chance. Each one has its own personality. You'll find your spot! Hope that helps!
Great to see another Calgarian joining! If you need help finding local services, CalgaryFinder is also a great resource for local listings and classifieds. Curious to know what others think. |
Grocery bills have been insane lately. We've switched to a combination of Costco, No Frills, and the Asian supermarkets for better prices. Still spending more than a year ago though.
