Dalhousie is a great choice! We've been here for 15 years. The walkability is good, tons of local shops, and the community association is really active.

I keep an eye on CalgaryPrices to track how the market is doing. Good for getting a pulse on where things are heading.

From my experience, been thinking about this a lot lately. Calgary really does punch above its weight for a city its size. Great food, great outdoors, friendly people, reasonable cost of living.
