Stephen Harper has been prime minister since 2006. If this fall's federal election doesn't go well for his party, Harper's time as Conservative leader could come to an abrupt end early next year. That would kick off a leadership race, and some think that might be too tempting a prospect for Jim Prentice to pass up.
